A Severe Earthquake

Please help me correct the following paragraph. thanks!

On March 11th, 2011, Japan was hit by a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake, which was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded to have hit Japan. The earthquake triggered powerful tsunami waves, causing nuclear accidents. Many electrical generators were taken down, and at least three nuclear reactors suffered explosions. The nuclear crisis put disaster area residents in a state of trepidation, particularly about the release of radiation into the ocean. The earthquake and tsunami also caused extensive and severe structural damage in north-eastern Japan, including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas, and a dam collapse. International aid agencies had also rushed relief supplies and medical personnel to the stricken area, including donation from Taiwan. Thanks to the friendship from other countries, which allows the disaster area residents to think of their hope rather than despair. Japan is gradually getting over the nightmare and on the road to recovery.
