A sentence with a question within it -- do you use a coion?

Examples....

My question is, can he come to us? [Can not capitalized.]

Or, My question is, Can he come to us? [Can is capitalized.]

Or, My question is: Can he come to us? [The use of a colon.]

This new perspective would be, can we really consider him the author?

[Would we capitalize "can" or not?]

Or, This new perspective would be: Can we really consider him the author?

Mainly wondering whether to use a colon or a comma.
