A sentence too long?

The Talente d Mr Ripley is a film about a poor but clever New York toilet attendant who, by mere chance, experiences firsthand the hedonistic lifestyle of a spoiled playboy whose way of life he grows to enamour so passionately that he resolves to extreme measures to secure his connection to this high life when it is threatened.

Does this sentence sound natural? It is meant to be a summary of the film. I am not sure if it's too long. Somehow, I felt that it should be kept as one sentence, though this is probably wrong.

Thanks
