A sentence from T3 website

Hi,
I read the following sentence from Terminator 3's official website:

Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful.
I don't quite understand why it can say
this machine is as relentless as her human guise
is beautiful
I think it wants to say that the machine is relentless and that her human appearance is beautiful and both are to the SAME EXTENT. But why can it be said that way? Is it correct? It sounds unnatural to me.

The sentence might be better if the second part were to read:

".., this machine is as relentless as its human female guise is beautiful."

It can be said that way and such things are often said in exactly this way, but I would change the pronoun from "her" to "its"; it is, after al

Yes, it is a standard formula. In fairy tales, you'll come across: "They were as happy as the day is long." It was supposed to mean, very happy.

You have correctly detected its meaning. It is a common literary turn of phrase, and it is probably partly correct to think of it as "unnatural" in the sense of artif
