A sentence from movie

what did this sentence mean?:
a hour of wolves and shuttered shields when the age of men comes crashing down
Aragorn said to his soldiers:
hold your around,
hold your around
sons of gondor, of rohan, My brothers.
I see in your eyes,
the same fear would take the heart of me.
a day may come, when the courage of men fails.
when we forsake all friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it's not this day
a hour of wolves and shuttered shields when the age of men comes crashing down
but it's nott this day
this day we fight.
by all that you hold dear in this good earth,
I bid you stand, men of the west!

Your fault as a Government is My failure as a Citizen.

: a hour of wolves and shuttered shields when the age of men comes crashing down[/nq] Since "shuttered shields" doesn't make any sense, and "shattered shields" does, may I suggest you've got the wrong word there. Does that make more sense now? A time of defeat for human beings.

Indeed. Moreover, it's "an hour of wolves" not "a hour of wolves".
