Grammar

a sentence

Hello teachers!
I don't understand why the following is grammatical.

This method can employ discrete point test such as having students distinguishing between minimal pair sounds.

Because of 'having', shouldn't 'distinguising' be its bare form, 'distinguish'?

Ellisa Because of 'having', shouldn't 'distinguising' be its bare form, 'distinguish'? That is a better choice, yes, though the '-ing' form is not impossible, depending on the precise methodology of the test. There is an article missing: This method can employ a discrete point test such as having students distinguish between minimal pair sounds.
