A sentence

Hello,

Could you please explain to me what 'losing against' means in this sentence?

The dog may lose the ball against the ground.

Thanks

Top answer

It could mean that the dog may not see the ball because eg the ground is brown and the ball is brown. But it's also possible that the writer means something else, and does not know good English. Clive
