A sentence

Hi,

I've just come across a sentence in my dictionary (LDOCE, 5th edition, 'which'), which I believe is incorrect, right?

I don't know which of us was the more scared.

Does it mean 'the most scared out of two people' then?

Why not?:

I don't know which of us was more scared.

'Scared' in the original is a pronoun. You wish to make an adjective of the word, which you may; either way is OK.

Aha! You mean like 'the (one who was) more scared (than someone else)'?
Doesn't it say that we're talking no more than two people?

I still don't think I fully understand that... Did I get these right?
