A sense of the word 'service'

Dictionary.com has 24 senses of the word service, but not the one that I am trying to use:

servants collectively

They had confederates among the king's service.

Is this correct? I know I can change it to something else, but I don't want to, unless it's wrong. Anyone have any prescriptions for me?

Okay, now that you point it out, I see it. Thanks. In that case I'll leave it. Somehow it sounds more regal than servants.
