A sense of community

I have several questions concerning this paragraph:

Pleasant ambiance is strongly felt in our tavern Kanižela which is within the villa and is the spot for enjoying local gastronomic specialties and homemade wine next to the „komin“ , traditional open fireplace.
Original interiors create an impression of Dalmatian „kaletas“ – old macadam alleys which give you an impression of being in a little Mediterranean town with a strong sense of community.

1) In the second sentence the word impression is repeated twice.
2) The author here compares the interiors of the tavern with macadam streets, which might sound illogical, but on the other hand, it is common in such old Dalmatian towns to have taverns and its terraces on the macadam floor which owners of the villa used in decorating their tavern.
3) the strong sense of community? Does it have any sense here? The meaning intended here is - "where you feel at home", "where everybody knows your name''.

If you have any suggestions, I would be grateful if you shared them with me.
