A secure connection

I just saw the following message on my iPhone when I try to open the page:

Safari can't open the page as becoyse it could not establish a secure connection to the server.

I assume the "connection" and "server" must be singular countable noun here.

A server: one of many or any server, then why have they used "the server"?

a connection: one of many connections but should it be not the connection?
