'a second' or 'the second' assumption

It is an introduction section of an academic paper which explains the structure of the article.

Section 3 investigates sensitivity to one of the methodology's major assumptions: Dirichlet distribution of the shape frailty.
Section 4 investigates a second major assumption: that size and shape frailty variables are statistically independent.

I wonder if I have to use 'a second' or 'the second' in the second sentence.
