A scene from Afghanistan

“It was a horrific accident that we have just witnessed. There were a number of explosions and black smoke,” witness Jason Sharp told the Mirror newspaper. “It’s not something you expect to see on the motorway, it was more like a scene from Afghanistan.”

Is a scene from Afghanistan correct? I'm wondering if a scene in Afghanistan is correct.

Hi,

Look at this sentence as if taken were written before scene. It's somewhat an elision.

"...it was more like a scene taken from Afghanistan."

That's why from is correct, and you shouldn't replace it with in.

Thank you, Regards.

If a scane is taken from Afghanistan, does it mean that the scene is removed from the country?

Hi,

No. This scene is most likely to occur in this country.
