What is the difference between the following sentences?

"Which road took her from the store?"
"Which road did she take from the store?"

A road can take you somewhere, but not the way you have it in the first sentence. You can go wherever the road takes you. This road takes you past the refinery. That road takes you to Albuquerque.

I understand the difference.

As enoon (beautifully) wrote, the first one probably implies that her will was not so important.
I saw this "take" in a short story about a missing woman, though Which was whatever.
