Essay & Composition Writing

A reading actuvity

Hello teachers!

I have planned a reading activity for upper intermediate students.

Please check any grammatical errors here!

Thanks in advance:D

Prepare a piece of paper with an essay explaining why a student chose to attend Greenwell University. The essay consists of five paragraphs. Cut the paper by each paragraph and mix them. Students will be divided into groups of three and will be given pieces of an essay, a piece of paper, a glue and a red marker. A red marker will be used to correct part of speeches of words in the essay.

1. Let students get into a group with two students. Give them materials and instructions.

2. Give students 4 minutes to read the separate pieced essays.

3. Make them glue the pieces of the essay on a piece of paper in the right order.

4. Give students another 4 minutes to correct the part of speech of block typed words.

5. When the students have completed both activities, let one group come out of the class to show how they rearrange the essay. Let another group present how they correct the word classes to each word. Both group will gain extra points to their effort.

The level of an essay could vary depend on the students level of English.

If you mean by 'correct parts of speech' that the student will simply correct 'table (NOUN)' to 'table ( VERB )', then the exercise is too simple for the other task assigned them (the ordering of the essay). Something more appropriate would be for them it identify the discourse markers. In your text below, however, I have just changed it to a vaguer task.
