A quote

I read a quote written in Russian.
Here it is: ? ????? ??????? - ?? ??????, ??????? - ? ??? ?? ???????????.
Could you help me to translate it into English. It goes something like: ''What comes to war it is not about winning it but staying away from it.''
"In a war/battle is not the victory that matters, what does matter is staying away from it." (''what does matter is not to participate in it.")

A few, but not very many, of the teachers here know Russian well enough to give you a natural translation. Google translate works well enough to get a start of the translation though. It just needs a bit of crafting.

In matters of war, what is more important than a victory is avoiding it in the first place.

Vicka AghazaryanWhat When it comes to war it is not about winning it, but staying away from it. about not getting into it.

Keeping as much of yours as possible, as above.
