a question on "if"

Find the mistake in the following sentence:
1- You are a superstitious person. Unless you are superstitious , you wouldn't be afraid of black cats.
My answer is: Unless you were superstitious , you wouldn't be afraid of black cats.
My friend said that my answer is wrong because I should say : Unless you are superstitious , you won't be afraid of black cats. Is he right?

If you weren't superstitious, you wouldn't be afraid of black cats. Also: Until you are not superstitious, you will be afraid of black cats. (Whilst/as long as) you are superstitious, you will be afraid of black cats.
