A question in plurals

Is it acceptable to write "Interior illustration" when I mean plenty illustrations/pictures? This phrase is used in a copyright page like "Interior illustration by John Doe".

If the word "illustration" refer to more than one image, is this also acceptable? Or is it completely wrong that it is best written as "illustrations"?
