A question about the verb "appreciate"

Hi,

Could you point me in the right direction and tell me which version "rings true" to a native speaker ?

1. I'd appreciate it if you would not come into my house again.

2. I'd appreciate it if you did not come into my house again.

3. I'd appreciate it if you would clam it - I can't stay focused because of your incessant drivelling.

4. I'd appreciate it if you clammed it - I can't stay focused because of your incessant drivelling.

To me, 2 and 4 are correct because they follow the guidelines about "appreciate" I read in a book, but 1 and 3 do not sound all too wrong to me. I'm in doubt.[:^)]

Thanks !

Hi MrP. Here my five cents. Mr.Swan says it's very informal and not usually written. It's common in spoken American English. Emotion: smile And it

Thanks anyway, but I'd as soon hear what native speakers have to say on the subject.

Could anyone help me out, please ?

Thanks !

I just gave you what I'd read from the book many people consider good and trusted.

I agree.

In fact there is an example in that book that reads:

It would be nice if you would stop talking for a bit.
