Could you point me in the right direction and tell me which version "rings true" to a native speaker ?
1. I'd appreciate it if you would not come into my house again.
2. I'd appreciate it if you did not come into my house again.
3. I'd appreciate it if you would clam it - I can't stay focused because of your incessant drivelling.
4. I'd appreciate it if you clammed it - I can't stay focused because of your incessant drivelling.
To me, 2 and 4 are correct because they follow the guidelines about "appreciate" I read in a book, but 1 and 3 do not sound all too wrong to me. I'm in doubt.[:^)]
