A Question About Tense

I was worried I'll be single forever!

Does that sound grammatical? I thought this is a correct sentence: I was worried I'd be single forever!

As far as I know, if the tense of the main verb is a past form (was), the tense of a verb of a subordinate clause ought to be a past form (would).
