A question about "when"

when was your interview ?
this sentence is correct ? why ?

when functions as an adverb in that context. It replaces a time, like this,

Statement: Your interview was over at 3:00.
Question1: Your interview was over when?
Question2: When was your interview over?

It means "When did the interview begin?"
You can answer by saying, "The interview was at 3 o'clock", meaning "The interview began at 3 o'clock".
