A question about "not A, but B"

Hello, teachers. How are you? I have a question about "not A, but B" structure.

1) I study not English but Japanese.

2) I am not your friend, but your father.

3) I do not study English but practice it.

So my question is whether we can consider the meaning of "not A, but B" structure to be the same with that of "not only A ,but also B" structure? Or they are always different in meaning?

Thank you so much as usual and have a good day.

Thank you, and come to think of it, I have never seen sentences written like #1, so is it okay to say "study not A, but B" or it should be "I do not study A but B." Thank you for your time and help.
