I've been mulling over this question for quite some time now:
To a native speaker, which phrase of the two is a natural thing to say? (if any)
1. Isn't that a one compelling argument !
2. Isn't that one compelling argument !
(the phrase is said about an argument that someone has presented - the person uttering the phrase is marvelling over the pertinence and force of the argument)
Thanks !

#1 is not possible. A + one is only possible with numerical adjectives ( 'a one-horse shay').
