A Question About An If Clause Sentence

Hi All

I want to ask if the sentence below is grammatically correct. Can it, somehow, be %100 functional or is it weird?

"If your wife is leaving the home, do you ask her to come back?"

This makes me think of a rest home, a home for the elderly, a convalescent home.

I haven't got a fix on the meaning you have in mind.

"leaving home" suggests running away from home, never coming back. Or (of an older child) going off to college.

"leaving the house" suggests going to work or going sh

"If your wife is leaving the house, do you ask her when she's returning / how long she'll be gone?"
