A question about a sentence

Hello,
How come "I am from Paris, but I currently live in Lyon" sounds odd and "I am from Paris, but currently I live in Lyon" sounds fine? The second one sounds odd to me. At least ten people said the first one sounded extremely unnatural. I don't think it does. What do you think?
