A puzzling question

Janet is the......of the two girls.

a. taller b. tallest

I think both 'a' & 'b' are OK. Am I right?

Top answer

No - if you are comparing two things / people then you use the comparative form of the adjective. In this case, use 'taller' as there are only two girls. If there were three or more, that would be when 'tallest' is used.
