Peter is known to be clever. He............the full mark easily.

a) will get b) is going to get c) is getting

I go for "a". Is it true that personal qualities are not an evidence, and that's why we can't choose be going to here ?

Hi I agree that question is puzzling. I'd say all three are OK, but 'a' is probably right (maybe only because it is the simplest) In English, you can express the future tense either with the 'will' form or with the 'going to' form: - This year I will exercise more - This year I am going to exercise more Slightly more doubtful, in idiomatic English, there is the narrative present, in which you can tell a story about the past or future and yet use the present tense. (You need to be careful with this): - Next year, my team is winning the cup and Peter is getting his full mark in the exam!

  • So, each of those is acceptable, I'd say.
  • That's a good question to ask.

Omar AhmedI go for "a".

Me too.

Omar AhmedIs it true that personal qualities are not an evidence (current evidence of a future event), and that's why we can't choose be going to here?

I'd say that's a reasonable explanation.
