A puzzling question

What's wrong with the following sentence?

- Astronauts are weightless in space due to zero gravity.

My friend says it is not a good sentence.

I think it is a good sentence. Is my friend right?

Top answer

zero gravity s ounds to me like a little bit of technical jargon. It would be smoother to say eg Astronauts are weightless in space due to the absence of gravity. But the original sentence is easy to understand.

Omar Ahmed- Astronauts are weightless in space due to zero gravity.

Leaving aside the questionable use of "due to", that is not why they are weightless. In orbit, gravity still acts upon them almost as strongly as on the ground, but they are in free fall. Far away from massive bodies, gravity would indeed become negligible.
