A puzzling question

Is it correct to say the following sentences?

1- I went to the lawyer's.

2- I went to the dentist's.

3- I went to the butcher's.

4- I went to Tom's.

Can I use the apostrophe only instead of saying "the lawyer's office, the dentist's clinic, the butcher's shop, Tom's house?
