A puzzling question

- There were ….. few people at the party that we went home.

  1. a) so b) such a c) such
  2. My teacher says the correct answer to this question is "so". I asked him why "so" and not "such" ,but he didn't answer my question. I would be grateful to you if you answered my question.

"Such" is a noun modifier or premodifier (such + a)
"so" is an adjective modifier. Use it before "little" and "few" to make a "so ... that"
