A Present Riddle

Something was lost, yet has been found, it's not quite the same, but you've seen it around, a handy little guy, that can do a few tricks, you can learn quite a lot from it, and get your creative kicks, you can have it this weekend, the color is up to you, start thinking of your favorite, red, yellow or maybe blue.

This riddle was given to me by my mother. It describes a gift she got for me, but I'm not allowed to have it until I solve the riddle.
