A present participle vs to-Infinitive

1. Could you tell me which one is correct of the following sentences? If all of them are wrong, please give me a right one.

(1) Most of the people knowing me think me someone like everyone else.

(2) Most of the peole to know me think me someone like everyone else.

2. If both of them are fine, what is the difference between them in terms of meaning or nuance?
