How much is "a powerful dose" in the above? Does it just imply "a huge amount?" Thanks.

Yes; the power of the dose depends on the quantity of milk.

If milk contains 775mg of calcium per pint, and the RDA for calcium is c.1,000mg, then half a gallon would be a "powerful dose". I should think.
