A potter's activity

Hello!
A vital potter's activity is to make pots, yes?
In this case, do we say: "he's wheeling" or "he's throwing"?
The device he uses it a wheel, am I wrong?
Thanks beforehand.

Or he is just 'potting'. (They are not always throwing pots; sometimes they are hand-forming them-- whatever the word for that is.)

Oh, i do know what a potter does... I live with one! I just wanted to use the right word (throwing) to explain things when English speaking tourists come into our shop.
Thank you for helping me...
