A pool and the pool

Hi,
I have a question. Should I say I spend a few hourse in a pool or in the pool? and Why?
There is a dilemma. To me, i know which pool, so I should "the". But to the reader, they don't know, should I use "a" instead?

Thanks,

Use "the" instead of "a" because it is first person. Unless, you wish to make the character who is talking seem mysterous when talking then use "A". Correction that should be made: I spent a few hours in the pool.

I spend a few hours in the/a pool (every day).
