A place in the queue

Hello,

This is the situation I want to express - I was the 101st in the queue. If I were a place earlier, I would have received the souvenir. (The first 100 people in the queue will get the souvenir.)

The sentence sounds odd. How can I improve it?

Many thanks,

K
