A pilot of

Do I say,

(a) My ambition is to to work as a pilot in an aeroplane.

(b) I am a pilot of an aeroplane.

Top answer

Use "of" not "in" but better is My ambition is to work as an aeroplane (airplane for me) pilot. I am an aeroplane pilot. And yes, there are other types of pilots, so saying airplane pilot is not as redundant as it may first appear.
