"A Phillippines girl"

"Wednesday, Iceland’s Supreme Court ordered that the body of Bobby Fischer, the former champion, be disinterred to determine if he is the father of Jinky Young, a 9-year-old Philippines girl, according to a report by Agence France-Presse." - New York Times, June 17, 2010

My dictionary says that Philippines is a noun, not an adjective. The way it is used in the above sentence is grammatically the same as saying a France girl or a Spain girl. I know that in English sounding good sometimes overrides grammaticality. Does a Philippines girl sound good to native ears or should this be considered a mistake?

Hi! Cool Breeze Philippines girl As a Filipino, I'd say, I never heard it used before. I wonder if this is possible to say.
