A pet dog

Please help me correct the errors of the paragraph. Thanks a lot.

I have a fish, but it is very boring. If I want to keep a pet, I think a dog is an ideal choice for two reasons. First, dogs are cute and loyal, and they can play with me and make me feel happy. Second, dogs can keep strangers from entering my house. In conclusion, I would like to have a dog for a pet. Not only are dogs cute and loyal, but they are also fierce and protective.
