A perplexing sentence

Acknowledgement

I undertake to respect the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including the prohibition of begging, recognize the existence of the penalty of expulsion and refusal of entry for persons convicted of begging.

Is the word "recognize" used correctly here? Are there any other mistakes in this acknowledgement?

Top answer

"recognize" in itself is OK, but there is a missing "and". In fact, although the subject of the verb, "I", can be omitted, I prefer to include this too, both for general readability and to avoid the uncertainty of whether you recognize or undertake to recognize. I would also add another comma: I undertake to respect the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , including the prohibition of begging, and I recognize the existence of the penalty of expulsion and refusal of entry for persons convicted of begging.
