A perplexing sentence

After a university education, a first job he did was to work in the theatre as an
actor.

A friend of mine has just seen this sentence in a book. Neither of us is convinced that the underlined part is grammatically correct. I want to know if we are right or wrong.

essam gaweesh After a university education, a first job he did was to work in the theatre as an actor. context=4&reversed=False&action=define&homonym=-1&text=job It's possible. Even such a befuddling phrase as "a job of work" is possible which means "a part of particular work or a task".
