A particular sentence

Hi everybody,

Is the following sentence correct?

I rely on data heard about from one of my friend.

So, I interpret it as: I was told about data. My friend said these pieces of information. I would like to use the verb 'hear'.

I'm sorry if my post is unclear. In that case, please write it to me and I will try to reword it.

Thanks for your help in advance.
