A participle phrase made up of a nominal phrase

Because of Jupiter, the other planets in our solar system have stable orbits around the Sun. The largest planet in both volume and mass, it's diameter is eleven times that of Earth.

I think "being" is implied before the underlined nominal phase, and that the participle phrase modifies "it."
And I'd like to know if my assumption is right.

Because of this, I'd recast the sentence to clarify what The largest planet in both volume and mass refers to.

Correct. Of course, it's only an implied participle phrase, there being no participle there.
