a part from a poem

Sol indulged in that possibly most inexcusable
of all to use a highfalootin phrase
luxuries that is or to
wit farming and be
it needlessly
added.

Hi, I need a clue to help me grasp the piece above. It would be helpful to know if there is any elided particle in it. By the way the 'Sol' is expressing a name and the poem belongs to Cummings.

  • Perhaps (it is) because my Uncle Sol could sing “McCann He was a Driver on Xmas Eve Like **** Itself”, which may or may not account for the fact that my Uncle Sol indulged in that most inexcusable of all: to use a highfalutin phrase, “luxuries” that is, or to wit farming.
  • And be it needlessly added: my Uncle Sol's farm failed because the chickens ate the vegetables.

Hello K.O.

Thank you for your kind reply. Frankly speaking, I don’t know much about the background of *******’s Uncle Sol poem. But I too can feel some sense of mockery in it.
