Which sentence is correct? Singular of plural with "a pair of jeans"?
1. A pair of jeans was bought to me by my father.
2. A pair of jeans were bought to me by my father.

You are liable to hear either verb form from native speakers, but for careful writing, use 'a pair...was'. Be aware, however, that the passive voice is not natural at all here. We would say:
