A or zero article

Hello everyone,

Could you tell me if the indefinite article "a" optional or mandatory before "part of" in the following sentence?

- UNESCO is "a" part of The United Nations.

I don't know if it is optional in all the cases or it depends on the nouns whether they are singular countable or uncountable. Further examples:

- Hand is (a) part of body.

- Algebra is (a)part of Mathematics.

Could you explain it to me, please?

Regards,

JA
