A or the CD( controlled drugs) copy for Zomorph

Which article should I use "a " or "the" in the following:
The CD( controlled drug) copy for Zomoph was clinically and legally valid.I have written the sentence for my module.please explain in detail so I can avoid the basic mistakes.

A separate copy i.e written for a controlled drug. Basically I have to make sure that Cd copy is legally valid by checking certain things

I think I need more background context to understand this. Do you mean a copy of a document that has previously been mentioned? Some kind of "base" document exists, and then a separate version is made for a controlled drug?
