a or the?

Question: "Could you tell me how to get to the nearest post office?"
A. "i have no clue"
B. "Sorry, I'm the new comer here".
I thought B is not correct because it should be "I'm a new comer here", and I chose A. But the key says B. Please tell me if the key is wrong!

Top answer

You either know how to get to the post office or you don't. So you have two clues, you cannot say I have no clue.

The key is correct. It is "Could you tell me how to get to the nearest post office?"

Nearest is the superlative form of the adjective near. Superlatives are preceded by "the"

This is a tall building, but the one near the church is the tallest in the town.

Both A and B are good answers, as Clive has corrected them.

However, A is abrupt and impolite. That is not what I would say.
B is OK. It is polite, and gives an excuse why I don't know the location of the nearest post offi

The question is if you know it or not?
You can say 'I have no clue how to get to the post office.' if that question was not asked to you. But here the expected answer is either 'yes' or 'no'.
My 2 cents worth!

I have no clue is a common, casual and emphatic way of saying 'I don't know'.

Thank you so much. However I haven't get what I want to know.
The original versions were "I have no clue" and "Sorry, I'm the new comer here". I want to know "Sorry, I'm the new comer here" is correct or not. I know if B was "Sorry, I'm a new co.mer", B would clearly be better than A. Please help me with it.

Manh, don't bother about this one. There must be some printing mistake.
