The question is itself is rather awkward. We don't usually ask, "Hey, what's wrong with your mentality?" "Mind", maybe…

That said, both (a) and (b) are possible depending on whether you take people to have only one mentality or many. For example:
What's wrong with people's political view? (I am referring to only one view shared by these people).
