A or an before hors d'oeuvre

Please bring(a) or (an) hors d'oeuvre. Which word is correct before a word beginning with a silent h.? Thank you in advance for your help.

An, because it begins with an 'or' sound. This is, however, a French word so I may be wrong! Any French speakers out there?

oui, mike! foreign words are always tricky, but an hors d'oeuvre sounds better. (but *** knows english speakers really mangle the pronunciation of oeuvre!)
